Moments...

This morning as I sat rocking Hudson in my arms I began to think of all the "To Do's" I had on my list for the day. Then...I looked down at my precious boy and remembered...these are the moments that I don't want to pass me by. I took a leave of absence from work to be with our baby, to spend every waking moment creating memories, reading, playing, laughing, soothing and most of all loving Hudson. The To Do list can wait! The laundry will still be waiting for me after I'm done holding my baby, the dishes can wait an hour, but my baby is only little for a while,  a moment, a blink. This chapter of our lives is so amazing, such a miracle! It brings tears to my eyes to think that 10 fridays ago, I was at Clovis Community and asked the nurse, "how much longer do you think until he's here?" She said, "I bet about half an hour". As I look at the clock it's 5:20 pm, in 31 minutes 10 Fridays ago Hudson was placed on my chest.

We heard his first cry, he nursed for the first time, I stared into Duncan's eyes and never loved him more. We became parents and our lives have never been better. It's like a little piece of our hearts that we never new was there before, that we couldn't even imagine existed has been filled with the most amazing joy.

Last night Duncan and I were discussing how our life has changed...we decided, it really hasn't changed all that much. We still do the same things we did before, but now Hudson joins us! Our lives have been enriched, like adding chocolate chips to pancakes, or whip cream to your hot chocolate, it was already sweet and fun...but NOW it's even more special!

I'm overwhelmed with joy today and on the verge of tears (happy ones) as I write this. Hudson has absolutely blessed our lives beyond our imagination. I am completely in awe of God's power, his creation and his amazing love for us. Knowing that God gave his only Son for us gives me a whole new understanding now that we have a son of our own. I am so thankful for our powerful God and his Son Jesus Christ!

Thank you Lord for choosing Duncan and myself to be Hudson's parents. We will raise him according to Your word and love him with all that we have. Please walk beside him for his whole life, Lord, pick him up when he falls, carry him when he needs You most, and help him to be a shining light so that others may see You through him. We love you Lord!

Until Next Time...

Getting the Hang of Things

Well, I feel like I'm finally getting the hang of things! HA...With most of my friends back to work, I am starting to get into a little routine. Last week marked the week I would have went back to being Teacher Tracy in room 24, but instead I get to be Mommy! I definitely have a new found respect for stay at home moms! I will be a stay at home mom until January and so far I am loving it...but...It's A LOT of WORK!

I imagined that when Hudson came I would establish a perfect little routine, 1. wake up 2. get ready for the day 3. clean the house 4. play with baby 5. cook a fabulous dinner 6. have dinner on the table and be freshened up by the time Duncan got home from work! Whewww....was I a bit off! HAHA

Our Little Ray of Sunshine!!
Well....since last week I'm starting to get a little better at some of these things, but definitely not all in one day! Today I was able to clean and have dinner on the table by the time Dunc got home, but...I was a mess!! HA HA! I just love when I'm able to have dinner plated and waiting for Duncan to walk in the door give us kisses and sit down for dinner. He gets so excited when this happens and is so thankful after a long day at work.

Hudson is 9 weeks 4 days today and WOW...he's getting a little personality! Today as I cooked dinner, he layed on his activity mat and smiled, cood and made precious little noises! It's music to my ears, I absolutely adore him...of course! He loves cuddling and loves to be close to mommy and daddy, even if it's just holding our finger. Sometimes in the car if he's fussy all we have to do is let him hold our finger and he's happy! I love that he loves to cuddle!
Playing in the BUMBO
I am going to start a photography class soon! I'm so excited, Hudson already has the mommy paparazzi in his face 24-7 so maybe I'll learn to take some really good ones! I'm so excited about it! I also got to ride my horse this week! It felt so good to climb up in that saddle, it had been a long long time...since before I was pregnant! My mom has been asking me to wear a helmet for as long as I can remember. I always thought she was silly, now that I'm a mom myself I understand!! I wore a helmet! Now that I have a little man to care after I decided it was time to be more careful while riding my crazy horse! Funny how things change!

I love being Mommy and of course Duncan's wife! He's the BEST!!

Until Next Time...

Remember When....

 Mommy loves these sweet lips!

Such a happy boy in the morning!

 Peek A Boo!!

July 18th 2010...Hudson is 2 months old today...but not until 5:51pm! HA   Every day as been such a blessing, each moment a treasure for us to keep forever! I love waking up to my sweet baby's breath, his little morning coos and smiles and even the poops! HA  Duncan is very proud of Hudson's big poops, so if he's not home when they happen I always send him a text or email letting him know...kind of silly but it's the little things in life right? :)

This week would have been the week I would have started back in the classroom with kiddos. Monday morning I woke up, cuddled my baby boy and thanked God over and over that I could stay home with him. I can't imagine leaving him at only 8 weeks! He's still so little and needs his mama! As of now, I will be returning to work after Christmas break. I do miss my students, but staying home with my baby has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl and a blessing that I will never take for granted.

I love sitting and talking to Duncan about the "remember whens" Remember when Hudson was first born and he was so squishy, when we held him his whole body would just melt into our arms. Remember the first night when he screamed and screamed and we got out every pacifier we owned until we found one he liked! Remember when we would have to take him into the living room in the middle of the night and hold him until he stopped screaming so the other could sleep (usually Duncan would take him so I could get some rest). Remember when Hudson was screaming because of gas, we put him in the bathtub to calm him down and he did this weird shake with his face...I started crying because I thought he was having a seizure....but....he sneezed! HA....He just had to sneeze! WOW...the little freak out moments that we have as new parents! Remember the first night Hudson slept good...I thought there was something wrong with him because he was so "out of it" he was just really really tired and was in a deep sleep! HA HA!

My latest ah ha moment....I realized that Hudson was being cranky during the day because he wanted to sleep and mommy was keeping him up! I just wanted to play with him! ha ha...poor guy. I thought he was just being fussy, so I would fill our day with little adventures...mommy & baby yoga, tummy time mat, stories, Baby Einstein videos...I did let him sleep of course, but not as much as he wanted! What a crazy mom I am! Now that I have figured this out, he eats, is up for about half hour to or so then wants to take a nappy!! HA!

Such little time has passed...2 months and already so many amazing memories have been made. Hudson is a morning person, most of the time he wakes up with smiles, coos and little laughs. When he laughs he breathes in and makes the same sound as mommy when she laughs! He loves loves loves to be outside and look at the trees. He doesn't like to be cold but doesn't mind being hot. He LOVES his bath time and has never cried when taking a bath! Mommy and Hudson have been taking baths together and Hudson loves it. He kicks his legs and moves his arms. I think he's gonna be a swimmer like all the Reids!

Hudson's first bath in the sink!

Hudson slept all through the night on Monday, August 16th! He went to bed around 10pm and woke up at 6am!! I couldn't believe it! When he woke up in the morning, I looked at my clock expecting it to be 3 or 4 and it was 6am!! I fed him and he went back to sleep until 8 fed him again and we finally woke up at 10am!! I felt like a million bucks! I didn't drink my morning latte because I was so awake I didn't even need a boost! I cleaned the house, ran some errands with Hudson, came home and went for a walk. Wow! I forgot what it feels like to sleep all night! It was AWESOME! Unfortunately it was a one night wonder! HA...last night he slept about 6 hours which is still great but he woke up at 4, 6 and then we were up. He is having another growth spurt....today he's been eating every hour and a half!

Our Family at one of our Favorite Spots in Shaver!
Hudson had his first trip to our favorite place....Shaver Lake. Duncan, Adam, Jack and I took Hudson to Jack's favorite swimming hole, a little creek up Dinkey Creek Road. Hudson slept most of the time but woke up towards the end and was a happy camper to see all of the beautiful trees.

I love being a mommy, every moment...even the tough ones...are a blessing. Duncan and I just can't believe God chose us to be Hudson's mommy & daddy, we are so lucky and truly blessed!

Happy 2 Months to our sweet baby boy Hudson! We love you more than you could ever know!

Horsin' Around

It is amazing to share one of your most treasured loves with your son! Duncan sits with Hudson and talks about football, he teaches him about the scoring and always tells him, "catch with your eyes" it's so precious!
DADDY FORGOT TO LET MY TUMMY SETTLE BEFORE WE PLAYED!

Since I was a little girl I have loved horses! I began riding as a toddler and my love continued to grow throughout my life. Yesterday, August 7th, 2010,  I was able to share this love with Hudson and just like mommy....HE LOVES HORSES!! It brightened my day to see him smile and coo at the horses as he stuck is little toes in their noses! HA...sounds silly that a mommy would let her baby stick his toes in a horse's nose but....it was ADORABLE!

He even had his first dirty foot after he was licked by a horsey tongue...HA!

I can't wait to let his love for horses grow over the years. Soon he'll be sitting high on a saddle with mommy as we ride Honey~B! We'll have to go shopping for a nice helmet for him! My mom tried to get me to wear a helmet for years and I though she was silly...(Sorry Mom!) Now I understand! Being a mommy makes me realize why my amazing mom always tried to protect us no matter what.

Hudson meeting his Horsey Friends!
Until Our Next Adventure...

Friends are Friends Forever!

I had the most amazing time this week with friends. It is so much fun because so many of my friends are having babies so we're all in the same chapter of our lives. Our conversations have changed so much! HA...the topics...poop, gas, breast feeding, etc....all baby stuff...but it's so much fun!

It's amazing how time passes by so fast. Years go by and yet when you get together with old friends it seems as if no time has passed at all. Growing up we had an extraordinarily close class. Our school was Kinder-8th grade with one class for every grade...very small! So my classmates became more like family. High school came along and although we were all still friends, we made new friends and didn't hang out as much. Well...it has been well over 10 years since we've been together...maybe even closer to 14 years...and is seems like just yesterday we were playing dress up at birthday parties and giggling over boys!

We had the time of our lives but this time we had BABIES...ALL OF US! Kristen has sweet Landon who is 8 months old, Michelle has talented (future rock star) Tyler who is 2 and gorgeous Tivoli who is 2 weeks younger than Hudson. I feel truly blessed to have these girls in my life! They were such a big part of my childhood and now a part of my mommyhood! Next Tuesday we're meeting up again at Megan's house, another childhood friend who also JUST HAD A BABY, Chelsea and also has a 2 year old Dylan! SO MANY NEW BABIES!! SO MUCH FUN!!

6 Weeks and Counting!

Daddy and Hudson dressed alike!! Love Them So Much!

Hudson is 6 weeks and 4 days old today, it seems like just yesterday we were waiting anxiously for his arrival but at the same time it seems like he's been here forever! We continue to learn more and more as each day comes! This weekend was an eventful one!!

We headed down to Glendora for a Meet & Greet hosted by Hudson's MiMi and Papa (Duncan's dad and step mom). It was SO MUCH FUN! We visited with friends and family that we haven't seen in a long time and the best part...they all got to meet our newest member Mr. Hudson! It was such a great idea to have a shower after he was born, I think I want to throw someone one of these showers! It was so fun!!

Sissa Came all the way from San Diego to see her little Monkey!

Gabby being her silly self!

Dave & Stacy (they just got engaged today) Congrats!
On the menu: A hamburger bar! Every fixing you can imagine and delicious salads! mmm....it was so good!

The Theme of the Party! Fire & Football!!! Good Job MiMi!

Onesies created by friends and family! Hudson can't wait to wear them!

Hudson, here are some highlights from your first 6 weeks! We love you so much buddy!
Here are some names people have been calling you:
*Mommy & Daddy call you Bubba sometimes
*Sometimes when Daddy talks to you he calls you Hudders too
*We've heard people call you Huddy, Hud
*Grandma calls you "My Darling"
*VaVie calls you her "puppy"
*You love to be swaddled at night and when you sleep
*You like mam pacifiers the best but recently you have found your thumb and fingers and like to suck on those too!
*You LOVE taking baths! You even took a bath with Mommy and you were so happy to be in the big bathtub
* You rolled over for the first time at 2 weeks old and the Dr. said you are so strong!
*You love to be read to and love it when Mommy & Daddy sing to you. Mommy wrote you a song when you were in her tummy and you still know that song. When mommy sings it to you, you love it!
Here are the lyrics:
"Baby of mine, apple of my eye, you are the star shine twinkling in the sky
Little caterpillar you're my butterfly oh baby, baby of mine.
Now close your eyes and dream sweet dreams, dream of the star shine twinkling in the sky
and of caterpillars turning to butterflies."
*Every morning when you wake up Mommy says:
Good morning trees, Good morning birds, Good morning toes, good morning knees, good morning tummy, good morning mouth good morning nose, good morning ears, good morning hair, good morning good morning everywhere. Good morning Mommy, Good morning Daddy, Good morning Hudson, Good morning Sun, Good morning, good morning everyone! You love when mommy tells you the good morning story! You smile and coo!! It melts mommy's heart every time!

Samantha & Hudson

Mommy and Daddy love it when you smile, every time we rush to get the camera! Everything you do is so precious...even when you cry you're cute! Your little bottom lip quivers and makes a frowny face...God made you so perfect and we are so in love with you!
6 weeks 4 days old

I had my first Doctor's appointment today for my 6 week check up...everything is looking good and I've lost 25 lbs! A little more to go :) I get to go back to the gym ... so excited about that! The Dr. said to take it slow though which won't be a problem! HA It's been quite some time since I've been able to have a GOOD workout. I'm excited to start training for the relay 1/2 marathon in November!

As always...it takes me a couple of days to finish a blog due to Mommy duties calling :) It's kind of a good thing because there are new things happening every day and I get more memories recorded if it takes a couple of days to write them down!!

So....Last night (actually this morning) August 3rd at 2:30 am Hudson did something spectacular! I heard him wiggling around in his bassinet and it had been 5 hours since his last feeding so I figured he was hungry. I peeked in to see my happy boy looking around with bright eyes. I picked him up and put him on the bed to change him and said "GOOD MORNING" in my silly good morning voice and the little sweetie pie GIGGLED!!! I said "Duncan, Duncan wake up!!! Hudson laughed!!" Dunc jumped up so excited to see and again I said "GOOD MORNING" Hudson giggled again, he melted our hearts right on the spot!! Such a little treasure these moments are!

Hudson has been rolling to his right side since 2 weeks old, and this morning our little man rolled to his left! From tummy to back! He also scoots all the way across is tummy time mat! I have to put him aback on the middle because he'll end up on the carpet! He's doing it as I write!! He's so strong!!
Ok...I'm going to try to post some pics on here and post this before it becomes too long! HA

I love my new job as Mommy!! It's so much fun!

* More meet & Greet pics to come...computer wasn't cooperating!
