Merry Merry

The days are flying by and each one seems to get a little better! We are now 14 weeks 6 days pregnant and our little miracle is sprouting hair, eyebrows and can suck his or her thumb. Isn't that so amazing? We love reading the books and learning how our baby is changing daily. Last week we had a 14 week ultrasound and saw our little miracle already looking like a sweet baby! Fingers and toes, big lips and a darling nose. This baby is already so loved!! Our next ultrasound will be January 25th and if our little peanut cooperates we will know if we have a baby boy or baby girl!!!

Duncan is excited to start cleaning out our guest room and getting it ready for Baby Reid. We are not quite sure if we will be in our apartment when the little one arrives or not but it's a good reason to go through the closets and down size a bit.

Duncan graduated from Fire Academy last week at the top of his class! Of course! He also received a memorial award voted on by his peers as an outstanding leader, and future firefighter. We are still awaiting news from LA city but know that God's timing is the only timing!

We are so excited for the Christmas festivities! We will be in Hanford on the 23rd to celebrate with the Mello side, then to Santa Barbara on the 24th with Momma Q and Pop (Dunc's mom), to Glendora on the 25th at the Reid's then to Big Bear for a couple of days with Dunc's dad and family! So fun!!!

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, may the love of Jesus fill your homes with Joy and your Hearts with Peace!

Our Nursery Furniture!!!

Our baby is already so blessed!!! The grandparents went a little crazy and bought us some of our nursery furniture!!! We are so grateful!! So far we have our crib, changing table and hutch (not shown) ordered!!

First Trimester

Almost 12 weeks now! I can't believe our little miracle already has fingers and toes and is the size of a large plum. I must say I am very excited that the nausea and yucky stuff might be almost over.

So far here are the stats from my first trimester:
Starting at week 7 nausea on and off throughout the day
First Ultrasound: 9 weeks. We saw our little baby moving around with arms and legs and even a little nose!! It was so precious!
Thrown up 7 times total
Dizzy: just 1 time, yesterday while shopping for cribs
Fainted 1 time (after the flu shot at 6 weeks)
Cravings: Week 6: Fried Zucchini, Week 7: Taco supreme (so random because I don't like fast food!), Week 8: Lime popsicles, Week 9-11: fruit smoothies, anything cold, water with ice
Weight Gained: 0 lbs. so far. Lost 4 pounds right away now back at normal weight.
Started showing: I could tell at about 7 weeks, just a little bloat, by week 11 a definite little bump I can still wear my regular clothes but they are a little tighter around the waist.
Biggest change: SLEEP SLEEP SLEEP I can take 2 long naps and still go to bed tired! I've never slept so much in my life! It's so strange.
What we're looking forward to: Feeling the baby kick!! Finding out the sex of our little one!!

Duncan has been so amazing, I am so thankful to have such an AMAZING husband!! I love him so much!!

A week and a half left of the first trimester!! We love our baby so much!!!

PREGO PICS!

Our First Photo! At 2 Months...just a little tiny bump!
After Announcing the Big News to My Parents!
In October at our little ones first FSU game!

The Tailgate!! With Duncan's family!!

BABY REID

On October 11 we were blessed with the exciting news that we were going to have a baby!!! I've wanted to do a pregnancy blog for a while, but the news was just shared with our whole family this last weekend so finally I can start my prego blog!!

I am now 10 weeks 5 days pregnant and feeling better! Starting around week 7 the symptoms began. At almost 11 weeks I'm feeling a lot better, haven't thrown up for over a week!! Woo Hoo!!

How it was announced....
To Duncan: Duncan was at work when I took the test so I had to wait ALL DAY for him to come home to tell him the exciting news. I bought a precious little teddy bear and a card and placed it on the coffee table with the positive pregnancy test. When he got home he saw the bear and I told him I got if for him because I was being a brat and I wanted to say sorry. I just made that up, but I must have really been a brat because he bought it! He went and changed...taking his time before he opened the card, it was killing me! Finally he opened the card to find that he was going to be a DADDY!!! It was such a special moment!

My Family: We wanted to tell everyone in person so my family found out before Duncan's family. We invited my parents to dinner, I told them it was to celebrate Duncan's Fire Academy performance but really it was for the big announcement. I bought a baby pumpkin a beautiful box and made a special card that said, "A New Pumpkin for Your Patch". When my mom opened the box and read the card she exploded into tears! It was so precious and funny! My dad was gleaming from ear to ear.
Siblings: At my families harvest party we gave my brothers and their wives a special card announcing our pregnancy. It always gets me when my brothers well up with tears! My sister-in-laws screamed and we all celebrated together.
Duncan's family: We had to wait what felt like forever to tell Duncan's family. We really wanted to tell everyone in person and it so happened that they were all coming to the last football game/my birthday so it was perfect timing. Duncan's mom came into town on Thursday and we told her we bought her a housewarming gift, when she opened it, it was a picture of our baby and a countdown till I'm a Grandma gift. She squeeled for about 5 minutes! It was AWESOME!! On Saturday at the tailgate Duncan had a special gift for me to open and everyone gathered around to watch. As I opened the gift it was full of Fresno State Baby clothes! I pulled out tiny shorts and a tiny skirt, everyone was a little confused and absolutely silent until Duncan said, "they're baby clothes...we're having a baby" Everyone screamed and jumped cried and yelled for what seemed like forever! It was the BEST reaction EVER!!!

So, now the families all know and it can be announced to the world:) We are absolutely thrilled and feel completely blessed that God has given us this precious gift. We have already had our first ultra sound and saw our baby moving around, heard the strong heartbeat and fell completely in love with Baby Reid!!

Thank you JESUS!

So yesterday was one of the worst days in my teaching career. It was hectic...a bit out of control and not fun AT ALL! We were short staffed, students were having a hard day and the teachers didn't get a lunch...and we need our lunch:)! Yesterday, I realized that I was trying to fix things that were out of my control and decided to give it all to GOD and today....IS A GREAT DAY!!

Thank you Jesus!! Today I have had multiple "I love my job moments!" For me an I love my job moment is when I connect to my students and they learn something new or accomplish something that they haven't done, being silly with them, laughing, singing...you know all the fun stuff! Today one of my students sat in time-out for 2 minutes without stripping (he takes off his clothes when he gets into trouble sometimes). My little guy sat there with quiet hands until the timer went off!! WOO HOO..."I love my job moment". I also got to play bingo, sing and dance and finally got to have our classroom store! I know...sounds pretty silly, but for my kids these activities promote language growth, social skills, positive behavior, and teaches them to follow directions! So for now, I'm sitting at my desk having lunch and am so happy to FINALLY have a wonderful day doing what I love, TEACHING! Thank you JESUS!!!

Handing it over!

This school year has been beyond crazy. Just when we think things have calmed down, another storm arises. Last night I lost sleep trying to figure out what I could do differently, when I woke up today I had a plan! Then...I arrived at school only to have my plan shattered due to other circumstances. Tonight as I sat and felt sorry for myself, wondering when I would LOVE my job again like I have in the past, I realized something...I am trying to fix a problem that needs to be handed to GOD!! I realized that the problems that are arising are out of my hands and I will continue to fail if I try to FIX them myself! It's a revelation:) So... at this moment right now, I am giving it ALL to our most GRACIOUS HEAVENLY FATHER! He is the only one who can fix what is broken! Through him all things are possible and with Him on our side, we cannot fail!

When days are long and things don't seem to work out I need to be reminded of why we do what we do. So here's the reason! I love these kiddos so much!

Blossom Where You're Planted

Tonight I was sitting in church listening to the message about Holy Discontent, about listening to God, and knowing there is a reason for where I am right now. Then Brad said, "We need to BLOSSOM WHERE WE ARE PLANTED." Holy Cow!! That struck me straight to the heart. Just today I was walking the halls at my school wondering how we were going to get through this year. Wondering why everything seems to be going wrong, and why we have so many struggles this year. Basically I was feeling a little sorry for myself and realized that God has placed me where I am for a reason. The kiddos in my class, the staff I work with, the struggles we have been facing...it's all for a purpose.

This year's craziness has exhausted everyone in our program. From chasing "runners" to lifting students, taking an hour to make a child sit in time-out for 2 minutes, being hit, spit on, kicked, scratched, hair pulled etc. This year every day is like this but....THERE IS A REASON. Tonight I realized that maybe the one child who is struggling with being abused and dealing with living in a foster home, or the other child fighting for his life in ICU who we are all praying for, give all this craziness a purpose. If we can touch 1 life amidst all this chaos it will be worth it.

Today I sat with one of my students who is dealing with fear, anger and sadness and drew a picture with him. First he drew a picture about how he was feeling, it was full of sad faces and horrible memories of his life at home. We then talked about the things that are going good for him and drew a picture together of a tree, sun, flowers and birds. Such a simple moment made his day turn from darkness to light. I realized tonight that if I have to get spit on, kicked or run a mile trying to catch one of our runners, it's worth it, because for one moment, for one split second my little student forgot about his fears and was happy.

God give me what I need to be a light to my students even in the darkest of days! Help me to blossom where I have been planted!

Let Me Be Your Light

To often I sit and plan out how "I think" our week, month or year should go. Then I'm reminded that this day that I'm in, this week that is unfolding and the month on the calendar does not belong to me, but to God. This week has been quite an emotional roller coaster. Thinking, planning... and then being reminded that God's plans are often very different from the plans that we have. I was humbled this week, brought to tears this week and then lifted up this week by our Mighty God.

To often I find myself overly excited for events that are in the near future. I am being reminded that living everyday for our FATHER IN HEAVEN is so much more powerful and much more meaningful. I just started a Beth Moore study on Living Beyond Yourself. I struggle with reading God's Word on a regular basis, and this study has me in the WORD!! I feel closer to God and am understanding so much more to his depth. This week Lord, let me be your light!

"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of god, who loved me and gave himself for me" (Gal. 2:20)

Happy Birthday Megan!

Happy Birthday Megan!!!

So Room 24 Loves to Celebrate Birthdays! Although it was a celebration across the miles, we decided to have a party for Megan (my little sister:). My kids sang her Happy Birthday over the phone and we planned a party with popcorn and a movie. They picked Little Rascals, they thought Megan would like that;) My kids are so much fun and like me, get excited about the little things in life! It's been a crazy 8 days of school so far, but Megan's birthday brought a lot of laughter and fun to Room 24!! Happy Birthday Megi!! We love you!! xoxo Tracy

Memoirs of Room 24

Memoirs of Room 24

The first week of school is always full of adventures, tears and life lasting memories. As a teacher, you never know what the day will bring, especially in room 24! This year I have 11 amazing students full of energy and each very unique. One of my new students sings....ALL THE TIME, while she's coloring, eating, sitting, walking, running....she's always singing. The first time I heard her she kept humming and singing the same part of a song over and over. It was hard to understand what she was saying because of her speech, when I finally figured it out, I realized she was singing TAYLOR SWIFT!!! It was so cute, she kept repeating, "your on the phone with your girlfriend she's upset.....she wears short skirts I wear t shirts, she's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers" for about a half hour. When I realized what she was singing I started singing with her and of course she thought I was the silliest teacher she's ever seen! I love it:)

Another student I have this year was at our school last year in a different functional skills class. He is a very special little guy who I bonded with last year. For some reason, I am able to calm him down when he becomes aggressive. Unfortunately, I was on my lunch at the beginning of recess....when I walked out to recess a child approached me with a frown on his face. "Excuse me, that boy over there (pointing to my student) um....he bit me in the bathroom." I couldn't believe my ears, "HE BIT YOU!!" The poor little guy lifted his shirt to reveal a bite, "Uh huh, he started saying things, I couldn't understand him and he walked up to me and bit me on the arm." I spent the rest of the day teaching my little guy that he can't bite people and what was appropriate to do when you get upset. Everything is a teaching moment!!

Once again, an eventful first week for an eventful school year. In room 24 you never know what you may hear, see or smell! There is never a dull moment in Special Education!! Thank goodness for that, it keeps me on my toes:)

Until the next story...

Tu Tu Crazy!

A little tulle goes a long way! I have made 6 tu tus in the past week and let me tell you...they are so cute! I've always LOVED tu tus even before they became so trendy. But now that they are so trendy I figured...I have time on my hands, why not:). I began with some left over tulle from my sister-in-laws wedding and made the first one. I think I might be hooked! I love making them and have plenty now. I'm planning on selling them for $20-$30 depending on the tutu. Some are fuller than others and some have fancier bows than others. I think every little girl needs a tutu, what do you think? Here's some of the ones I have created, but there are more to come!

Til Next Time

Dance your tu tu off and have a fabulous day!

Summer Time

Summer has officially started in our household. Last Thursday was my last day of school and so far, we've had TONS OF FUN. We started off visiting the Johnsons and decided that Amber is a SUPER MOM! With three kiddos, the oldest 2 1/2, they definitely have adventurous days and nights.

Saturday we spent the evening with the rest of the college crew, the Martins, E. Lee, A. Wells, and the rest of the Linden crew. We had a ton of fun and realized how much we miss everyone. As for me, it feels AMAZING to be done with my masters. I forgot what it felt like to just work and not be a student. I LOVE IT!!

This summer is full of fun events to come. Next week is Chelsea's wedding!! We can't wait!!

A jumble of updates

Jack continues to do wonderful and has definitely become part of our family! We love him so much, in fact, Duncan took him on not only 1, but 2 runs today. I got to run him last night, it's such a joy to see him at the end of the day. Nothing like a dog who's always happy to see you to add a little more sunshine to a happy day.

This school year is coming to an end, I can't believe we're in the final stretch. I look at my students and it's amazing to see how much they have grown in the 4 years that I've had them in my class. I truly adore them! It's a little sad to think I may not be at my school next year, but at the same time exciting to see what doors God may open up. We are still awaiting the final news from LA, it's such a long process...we'll see!

Until next time...

Giddy Up!

Giddy Up!

Have you ever seen a dog smile? I mean really smile with a wide open grin, mouth open wide, having the time of his life? Well, this weekend Jack had an experience of a life time. Jack officially met Honey~B, my horse. At first he was trying to figure out why the heck his new momma was sitting on a giant dog walking in circles. He was quite confused and wasn't quite sure how he felt about it.

Then he realized that it would be so cool to join in on the fun and decided to come riding with us; well, not on Honey~B, but close behind. Jack became a COWBOY this weekend!

He once again found the
pond at Carol's house and decided to run full speed to the edge then LEAP into the water. Dolce, Jack's new chocolate lab friend joined him in the pond and ran for hours around the pasture. It was so cute to see them play together, I think it made him miss his brothers at home:). We had a great weekend with our animals! We love them so much!!

Jack can't wait for next weekend he gets to go visit his brothers in Glendora! He has so many stories to tell them:)! HA;)

WELCOME TO ROOM 24

THERAPY DOG IN TRAINING!
So this blog has turned into an "All about Jack" page, but I just can't help it, and the family loves to hear how their boy is doing. So today was Jack's first day at Lane Elementary and he LOVED it! Duncan brought him at lunch and they stayed for the rest of the day. Jack just adored all of my students and made a lot of new friends:)

Jack Showing the Kids How To Give
A Proper Greeting when Singing With Kibble's Rockin' Clubhouse! (Thanks Robyn!!!)
For those of you who aren't familiar with my students, I teach special education and have 11 amazing little people in my class. They are ranging in abilities and many of my students are nonverbal some have Autism, Down Syndrome and other disabilities. Jack was so welcoming to ALL of them and even got one of my nonverbal students to say "PUPPY". I couldn't believe my ears, one of my students very rarely speaks, occasionally she will say "momma" or "pita" for her name, but today she said puppy!! It was so exciting! She poked and tugged on Jack's ears and even tried to give him a lick with her tongue. Never a dull moment in room 24!

Jack read a story to the class with me as he sat by a child who has many emotional struggles. Jack sensed this child's need for love and covered him with kisses and even placed his paw in the little guy's lap. It was truly amazing to see my students interact with Jack and reassured my decision of getting him certified as a Therapy Dog so he can come to work with me every day!

Until next time!!

Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home!

Jack's finally feeling like he's home;) We picked him up on Friday from Adam's so that he could spend the night with us. . He played at Carol's (where Honey~B is) then came home played some more in the house and fell fast asleep. Saturday we spend the day playing fetch down the hallway then to the park for some more fun.

I ran to Target for some things and came back with a bag full of toys for the little man:) I couldn't help myself! Jack was so excited about his new toys, he's just so darn cute!! With the advise from Momma Q (Dunc's mom) Jack had some "alone time" training and is already doing better! I think he's going to be just fine with his new people.

More pictures to come Momma Q, we'll make sure you can see how happy your baby is:)

Howling

So Jack's having a little bit of a hard time adjusting to his joint custody life. He has been in Fresno/Clovis for 5 nights and is spending his third night with us tonight. During the day he is in Adam's backyard...he doesn't like that so much. Howling for about 2 hours has been his routine in the morning when the boys go off to work. Then he spends the day trying to get in the house. He took the screen door off! Pretty talented I know, but we're a little worried.

We want him above all to be happy, so we'll see. It's a hard life right now for him, two new homes, he's the only dog and he doesn't know us as well as he knows Duncan's mom & pop. We love him so much and hope we can keep him here but he might have to go back if he's unhappy:( Say a little prayer for our Jack!! That he'll relax and have fun in Fresno!!

Any tips on things for dogs to do when they're alone? Let us know!

JACK!!!

After about a year and a half wait...He's FINALLY HERE!! Introducing the newest member to our little family!! Jack!! We love him so much! Jack has been a long time coming! We decided to adopt him from Duncan's mom quite some time ago but are unable to have pets at our apartment. Luckily my sweet brother-in-law Adam was sweet enough to keep Jack at his house for us. We have joint custody for now:) Seriously, Jack is the SWEETEST dog EVER and he's adorable!
Jack came to Fresno on Sunday with Adam and as soon as we got into town we went and got him so he could spend his first night with us:) He's such a good boy! His second day in Fresno was full of surprises! Jack went with us to meet Honey~B, our other child:) after the greeting he decided to jump into the horse trough without any warning! We thought he was trying to get a drink, he had other plans in mind! With a gigantic grin on his face Jack swam around the horse trough then jumped out, shook....then....rolled in dirt, horse poop and mud! He was such a happy boy!

We then decided to outsmart him by taking him to the pond to wash off thinking his leash would stop him from rolling in the dirt, boy were we wrong! As Dunc was leading him out of the pasture Jack decided he wanted to be a country boy. He instantly fell to the ground and began rolling in the dirt AGAIN! He was looking at us with a big grin just laughing at his new people:)

All this fun and Jack's day had just begun! After a quick bath Jack loaded up in the truck to head to Hanford. He was greeted by his new cousins, Dallie and Bella. They showed Jack around the farm and gave him a quick lesson on being a country dog. (Jumping up hay stacks, running through the orchard...you know the important stuff) Jack was definitely adjusting well to his new life.

Jack is on his third day and has already been on 2 runs, a bike ride, swam in a horse trough and a pond, been to Hanford, a trip to Pet's Mart to pick out any toy he wanted (after picking his toy he carried it all around the store to show it off!) and got a new collar and tag!

We are so happy to FINALLY have our boy with us! Thanks Momma Q for giving us our baby:)!! We love him so much!

Keep on Driving!

Our Spring Break!! Drive....

One of my favorite things to do with Duncan is to drive! For some reason our silliest most memorable times have been somewhere between here or there just driving! Singing, laughing, stopping along the way...that's just what we did for Spring Break!
Duncan had an interview in San Jose last Thursday so we decided to make a vacation out of it and drive down the 1 all the way to Southern California! After San Jose we made our first stop in Santa Cruz. We ate at a cute little restaurant on the pier and watched sea lions playing in the water. The rain was drizzling and I must say it was a little romantic:) We toasted with oyster shots before dinner!! mmmm.... Dunc ordered lobster, and I had the most delicious, mouth watering seafood pasta, full of shrimp, lobster, scallops avocado and mango in a champagne sauce!! Talk about scrumptious...it was AMAZING!
A little further down the road we found a cute little hotel in Monterey where we stayed for the night. I have never embarked on such a beautiful adventure! Have you been down the 1? It is gorgeous!! Miles upon miles of God's beautiful creations! Take your breath away scenes and picture perfect moments! ahh....so beautiful!
As we were driving through San Simeon I looked to my right to see hundreds and hundreds of
ELEPHANT SEALS! Have you seen this before? If not...you should!! It was amazing!

Farmers market in Cambria, coffee in Ventura and a few other stops along the way it was truly an amazing day!

Have you taken a road trip before? Where are some places you've been? I can't wait for our next one:)

Seriously?!

How does a dog go lost for 4 days...yes...4 days and nobody notices? A little scary right? My poor baby was missing for 4 days and I just found out. My 13 year old Dallie lives at my parents house she's a farm dog and loves the country life. Apparently nobody noticed that she has been absent from the "farm" since Monday. So my mom calls me this afternoon at work, "Tracy, does Dallie have all her shots?" Immediately I know something is wrong because that is not a typical question my mom would ask. "Well, Dallie wondered off and got picked up and is at the pound." Of course I started talking a little louder, (as my students glared at me wondering what was wrong with their teacher) "what do you mean she at the pound? How long has she been there?" then the dreaded answer came from the other end of the phone...."since Monday" "MONDAY, my dog has been at the pound since Monday and I'm just finding out that she's missing????!!!?!?!?" By now my concered students' eyes are beginning to buldge from their little heads as they watch their teacher become red in the face and sweaty. "Well, we didn't realize she was missing until today, we thought she was just in her house." So, concerned both with the fact that my dog is at the pound and that nobody noticed she was missing, I began thinking of the positives so that I wouldn't go crazy...(thanks to my aide Susan.) 1. At least my dog is alive 2. my dad went and bought her a Greenie (her favorite treat) 3. a lady who worked at the pound was thinking of adopting her (not a good thing for me, but at least they were nice to my baby.

Here's her mug shot! My poor baby!!

Dallie is now home and I will be bringing her to Clovis to spend Spring break with Dunc and I.

Thankful

We drove to Glendora yesterday afternoon and finally arrived after sitting in traffic for a very long time. After seeing Pop in the cardiac ICU, we all felt so much better knowing he's going to be ok. God is so amazing! Pop had full blockage in his main artery which caused his heart attack. It is a miracle that he is alive and of course he's already back to his regular silly self. I'm sure the hospital staff loves hearing him crack his jokes at all hours of the day. He is so full of life and love and we are so blessed to have him still with us.

It made me realize how precious every moment of life is. I often forget that we are only here on Earth for a brief time. It is so important to make our lives as meaningful as possible and to always listen to God! Today, I am so thankful for God's saving Grace! It is because of Him that Pop is still with us.

Pray for Pop

My phone rang early this morning, I was about to push snooze then realized it was my sister in law Robyn calling. Immediately I was wide awake with a knot in my stomach. Pop, Duncan's step-dad had a heart attack this morning. I never expected to hear that from the other end of the phone. My emotions have been all over the place today, worried, scared, hopeful... Pop is such an amazing man with strong faith in Jesus. We are on our way down south to see him and be with our family. I left work early today and am so thankful for my coworkers, they took over my class so we can go see Pop. Please lift him up in prayer, Pop is an amazing man and we love him very much.

I was totally rooting for Jason, now I think I want to punch him in the face!! grrr..... I feel like it's so fake!!! grrr again:(

Beautiful Saturday

It is indeed a beautiful Saturday. We accidentally slept in till 11:00 this morning...oops. We had good intentions to get up at a decent time and start our day, but neither of us set an alarm so 11:00 is when our bodies screamed "WAKE UP!". I must say it sure felt good to sleep in especially since Dunc works nights, we don't get to sleep in the same bed every night.

I surprised Duncan with a fantastic breakfast or shall I say brunch:) A yummy scramble, fried potatoes, green tea and fresh oranges. We ate on our little porch, it's such a beautiful day!! Later today we get to see all of our college friends and their babies!! I'm so excited, I love love love babies. We are all going to the park for a little picnic and probably some frisbee. I love the weekends. But before all this fun starts I have to get some work done on my master's project so... off I go!

The Flu

How does the flu take over your life like it does? Ugg...so yucky! Thursday one of my students went home with the flu...the vomiting kind. So after sending him home, I prayed and hoped that I wouldn't get it. Well...I did. I woke up yesterday feeling like a train hit me. I thought it might be the champagne from the night before at Bree and Ryan's wedding celebration, but definitely not, it was the flu. The throwing up, moaning awful awful awful flu! Luckily I have the best husband in the whole world who took care of me. He went to the store got me soup, gatorade, 7-up and took care of me all day. He seriously is amazing and the sweetest man I know.

So today, I'm feeling a little better. Just ate some soup and it's still in my stomach!! I had to call in a sub because having the flu around 10 crazy students is not the best way to get better. I called to check on my class and found that 3 students and one of my aids is also out sick! I guess that flu is pretty strong. Well, tomorrow I'm sure I'll be better and back to work, I am hoping at least.

Back to my roots

We spent the morning visiting with a friend over breakfast, the best hot chocolate and reminiscing about growing up as a country kid. The past month and a half has really brought me back to my roots as a country girl. Each day a wake up excited for the end of the day to come where I can go see my horse. Her sweet breath blowing in my face, her nibbles of my hair and of course the sweet smell of country air. I always knew that a country living is my dream, but being able to be out in the open every day again really brings me back to my roots...my childhood.

I've lived in town for 9 years now...so crazy, but have yet to feel as it was home. Of course home is where the heart is and obviously my love is Duncan but we long for country living. A place where we can walk outside and hear the birds chirping as we play with our animals and tend to our garden. One day...I know we will have it, but for now our daily visits to Honey~B will keep us close to the country.

My Honey~B

A little over a month ago my sweet Honey~B was injured and I had to move her closer to care for her. I have been waiting 9 years to have the opportunity to have my horse close to me and although it wasn't an ideal situation due to her injury I am so so so happy to see her happy little face every day! She is being boarded at my a co-worker's little ranch with a beautiful pasture. Honey~B has fallen in love with a 35 year old gelding named Sandy. It is so cute to see them nuzzle up to one another and nibble on each other's necks. I am so in love with my horse...I've had her since I was 14 years old, we've been through a lot together and finally I have her with me again!! Soon I'll be riding her again, as soon as her leg is healed:)

Pretty Plates, Fun Plates, Cute Plates...I love Plates!

So when we got married a little over a year ago I immediately accrued this great love for PLATES! One of my favorite things to do is set the table. I think it started when we arrived home from our honeymoon and our table was set so beautifully with place mats, wine glasses, fancy napkins and of course PLATES!! I think I can thank my sister-in-law, Amy for my crazy plate problem. So I am a little obsessed and if I didn't have self control (thank goodness for that) I would probably buy every fun, cute, pretty plate that I see. My latest plate purchase was a set of darling Valentine's accent plates from Homegoods. They were $3 each...can't beat that for an easy fix of obsession! I would love to have a plethora of plates to fill my cupboards, but for now...I'm just window shopping:) Here's some fun plates I found on surlatable.com and if it wasn't for the Valentine's plates being out of stock, I think I might have just snatched them right up!!
