I must say that this year has been the most amazing teaching year! I have wonderful help in my room from my outstanding assistants and my students are just so lovable! I truly feel blessed! There have been times in the past 4 years that I have questioned my profession. Working with children who have special needs can be fun, rewarding and at times extremely challenging. What I have realized is that those few challenging students have taught me to be a better teacher, they forced me to collaborate with experienced teachers, professors and research to give them all the resources they need to be successful in life. With some, I was successful, others moved on to different schools still having me pondering what I could have done differently. Every child that walks through my door is a blessing, regardless of their limitations in life, I like to focus on their abilities instead of their disabilities. Daily I am reminded that my students are a blessing. Their smiles, laughter, accomplishments...I get to be a part of changing a life and helping prepare them for a future of independence whatever that may look like for them.
This week was exciting in room 24. A smartboard was installed and my students were so excited (I was a little excited too:) ) At the end of the installation one of my students (whom I have a full book of quotes from, he's hilarious!) said, "Teacher Tracy, all this room needs now is a spa, a hammock and a vibrating chair!" These little moments in room 24 always remind me that laughter is so important. My students teach me so much everyday. They are truly inspirational and I am so blessed to be a part of their lives.

Running is just so amazing! Never in a million years would I have thought I would be participating in a marathon, even if it was only a piece of one. Our team of girls had so much fun preparing for this race, and today WE DID IT! I was the third to run in our relay with 5.5 miles to go. As I ran I couldn't help but smile, the people giving water were even laughing at me. "You're still smiling after all this running!?" I was just so thrilled to be running and accomplishing this goal. I ran through a part of the golf course then through a bit of the hills of Clovis it was so beautiful! Sarah finished the race with 7.2 miles in 59 minutes!!! She was definitely the VIP of this race! I can't wait for the next one. Duncan and I are going to run a race together next time. For this race, him and Eric strolled along with their bikes along side of me, they were definitely my #1 fans ! I think Duncan loves me:)

Well, tomorrow is the big race! Sarah, Sierra, Michelle and I will run our little hearts out tomorrow hopefully without having rain in our face. We just had our lasagna "night before the race" dinner and made our Girls Gone Running shirts. As we sat in the living room laughing and talking about how we're going to find each other after the race we realized it was POURING outside. Great...we've all been training for about two months and now...RAIN! Not just a little rain, but I mean it was totally pouring. Just checked the weather channel, the forecast says rain till 9 am. That is about the time I will start running, but my poor teammates, Sierra runs the first leg at 7 am, Michelle is next then me and Sarah finishes the race. 26.2 miles between the four of us! We're so excited:) This is my first attempt at being a runner:) I'm so excited!! Rain...Can you please just GO AWAY!
